I really liked your blog about “Do what you know.” I copied and pasted one of the verses onto a Word document…I made the first and last lines very small, then made the middle gigantic (font size 60), changed from portrait to landscape, printed it out, and will place it in my cubicle. Hopefully, since the first and last lines are size 8, and not too visible, I won’t get in trouble, but if I do, so be it.

“O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you:

    …to do what is right,

    to love mercy, and

    to walk humbly…

with your God.” (Micah 6:8, NLT)

You should do a blog on infant baptism. The only Bible preaching church in driving distance here is Presbyterian. They have a wonderful argument for it, too. We have found ourselves kind of in the middle, but would like to settle conviction as this matter is extremely relevant. Is baptism the new circumsision? Why did people get baptized with their whole households? Does God look at children who are baptized any different than those who aren’t? Baptism doesn’t affect their salvation, but babies go to heaven, right? Anyway- those questions are always running through my mind.

Hello! Darrell- would you consider writing a blog on infantbaptism? We found a great Bible preaching church that we like, but they’re Presbyterian and really have us mixed up on paedobaptism. Why do people get baptized with their whole household? Is baptism the new circumcision? Does God consider baptized children and unbaptized children any different? They’re not baptized into salvation, but into the covenent. I’d really like some insight if you have the time. Sorry if I posted it twice- I didnt’ see it!

Darrell, I’ve got another question for you. I teach a child and her mother piano and voice. They are mormons and we’ve gotten to know each other. She “outserves” and “outloves” almost everyone I know and yet she does not know the Lord. She also seems to have tremendous joy. This seems to be a common case. What’s going on here?

    • Kara,

I think you are wrestling with the question of how a person who doesn’t know Christ can do good things (love, serve, etc.). And, the answer is that even in our fallen, corrupted, sinful state, we are still capable of doing some good things. Most people love their families. Most people work hard and try to be honest. Everyone who is unsaved is not necessarily an evil, twisted monster of some kind. The issue to remember is that despite our human efforts at goodness, we are still tainted and corrupted by sin (Isaiah 64:6). Thus, we need the forgiveness and restoration available only through Christ (Romans 5:1-11).

Good morning, I just would like to apologize for interrupting you last night. What was said is very significant, our President actually said that we do not recognize the settlements. He did not say the new ones but just settlements. He then went on to say that they Israel should end the occupation of the territories that started in 1969. One only needs to look at a map to realize he is calling on Israel to give back Jerlusalem.

    • Patrick,
No need to apologize at all. I didn’t think you interrupted me, and you are right about the administration’s comments concerning Israel being very significant. I’m always glad when we can interact in our study times.
